CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE

COLLABORATION WITH MÛ MBANA,
IN THE FRAME OF THE PROJECT “DESACTA: COUNTER-SPELLS TO UNRAVEL
140 YEARS OF THE BERLIN CONFERENCE”

The exhibition “DESACTA (unact / untie)” is an interdisciplinary project that explores the historical
and ideological roots of colonial exploitation in Africa, reaching back to the consequences of the Berlin Conference 140 years ago. Through rituals, music, and magical traditions, the exhibition creates
an “altar” of the victims—using plants, minerals, and archival materials—which serves as a starting point for performative counter-rituals that reclaim a nature desacralized by colonialism.
The project combines artistic, musical, and spiritual practice, creating a space for reflection on history, care for the Earth, and communal healing.

In collaboration with musician Mû Mbana, Otucha Collective presents a performance where two musical traditions—from Guinea-Bissau and Eastern Europe—meet to create a resonant, polyphonic soundscape. It is a gesture of communal care and a symbolic untangling of historical entanglements..
